Review: Maybelline Dream BB Cream

As made obvious, this post is a review on Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector!
I have this in shade Light, which is the lightest shade.
I'm going to try a new format with this review and see how it goes.  I've been reading Jayne's reviews for a while now and they're always so organized. I have days, as I think we all do, when I don't feel like reading a whole lot to find out the information I want to know. Her reviews are always so easy to go through because it's so easy to find what you want to know and read it. Therefore, I was inspired to organize my thoughts in my reviews a bit more in attempt to not have them so jumbled as I feel they have been in some previous reviews.

Price: $7.44 - 8.99
Size: 1 fl. oz.

Claim: "Dream Fresh BB Cream 8-in-1 Skin Perfector is the 1-step wonder for a good skin day, everyday. Get 8 skin benefits in 1 simple step: * Blurs imperfections* Brightens* Evens skin-tone* Smoothes* Hydrates* Enhances* Protects with SPF 30* 0% oils and heavy ingredients"

Packaging: This comes in a small tube which actually surprised me because it feels so small. The cap twists off and is a squeeze tube applicator.

Scent: The scent of this is kind of like a toned down sunscreen smell. Nothing overwhelming at all and I don't smell it when it's on my face.

Coverage: This BB Cream is what it claims, a sheer tint. I wouldn't even say it has any coverage other than the small amount of tint you get. I feel it did help even my skin out some, however this is not by any means going to cover up any major skin problems. It did help to "blur" out minor problems, however.

Shade: As I said, I have the shade light. This did worry be a little because as you can see below, it comes out looking kind of yellow. However, after it was oh so easily blended out, it matched perfectly.

(Sorry, no face shots. Getting through a 'hormonal breakout')

Thoughts: This BB Cream blends very well and matches great, despite how it appears when it first comes out. It is very very light coverage, though I will say I'm really pleased with the SPF 30 it contains. When I applied this, it gave my skin a nice dewy "fresh" look to it which I liked. However, hours later that turned into  an oily mess throughout my T-zone and cheeks. (I have Combination/Normal skin) Taking into consideration, it is summer and I didn't wear any powder, I still enjoyed this product.

Do I recommend it? Yes, if you don't mind very light coverage and aren't very oily.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. Not because I don't like it but because I really prefer medium coverage and the price isn't exactly desirable for sunscreen.

Rating: 3.5/5

Thanks for reading!

  1. Lovely lovely review! I've been curious about the Maybelline BB Cream too and it looks like it really evened out in colour on your hand. I find that when I sit down to write a review, it can be kind of overwhelming to get it all out, but doesn't the organizing help your brain sort through all that information? It also helps me to really appreciate a product in its entirety - the good, the bad and the ugly!

You poor thing with your hormonal breakout :( I can't imagine you looking that bad at all!

    1. Oh, and I love how you displayed the BB Cream with jewellery and flowers! I tried to do that once with confetti and it DID NOT work out. I don't have an eye for it at all!

    2. Thank you so much! I think it does a pretty good job for as light coverage as it is. I do too, I feel there's so much I want to say about it and when I don't organize it this way I get so jumbled and I'm all over the place! Then I end up forgetting something and wishing I put it in. It helps so much! Thank you for inspiring me. :D
It's not terrible but I got a few big red bumps that definitely stand out. :(

Thank you! It was just something I thought I'd do in the moment. Aww, I just kind of throw stuff in and see where I think things work best.

  2. i really want to try this bb cream, i think it offer shades that will suit my skin complexion, great review, thanks alot! :) and aww hope your breakout gets better and clear up soon, either way hun, you're still so beautiful :)

I nominated you for the "Sunshine Award" hun!
You can check it out if you want to :)

Hope you have a fab day! ~ XO

    1. Thanks so much! I hope it works out for you if you do. (:
Aw, thanks. I appreciate it. It's getting better, slowly but surely! You're so sweet, thank you!!

  3. Great review Chrissy! This really covers the main points and I'm glad you reviewed this as I have heard mixed things about this and have been umming & arrring on wheather to get this, I think I will try as I do like light coverage and don't really have oily skin.

Hope your having a great weekend Xx

    1. Thanks, Laura! I'm so glad to hear that. I was hoping I didn't leave anything out. I really hope it works out for you!

      Thanks, you too. (:

  4. So glad you posted this! I loved how your organized this. It was very straight to the point :)
I also prefer medium coverage at least...hopefully there's another bb cream out there that has more coverage!

    1. Thanks, Traci! That's what I was going for rather than rambling and having things all jumbled up. I hope so too!

  5. I love your product picture, very professional and well done. I recently tried this product too and will be posting a review in the next couple days. I quite liked the product but I liked it as a tinted moisturizer with SPF and not as a BB cream.

    1. Thank you very much.
I agree, it has a nice amount of SPF but I don't notice it does some "miracle" to my skin.
