Today I'm reviewing Revlon Colorstay's Pressed Powder. I've been searching for a good powder lately because I've never found one that jumps out at me and really gives me a big difference. I feel like a lot of powders kind of do the same thing, more or less, which is probably why I haven't found that holy grail product.
A little information about my skin before we begin:
I have sensitive combination/normal skin. I have to be careful about trying new products becaues of my sensitive skin, I feel like it's gotten better or I'm just trying better products, I used to have a breakthrough breakout almost every time I put something new on my face. However, most of my breakouts are hormonal nowadays.
This powder contains 0.3 oz and ranges from $8-$10 USD.

Claim: "Exclusive ColorStay jet-milled formula for ultra-fine, silkier texture helps to minimize shine and creates a fresh, flawless finish that wears for up to 16 hours over makeup. SoftFlex technology provides a lightweight, comfortable feel all day. Never looks dry or cakey."
Packaging: This powder comes in the typical plastic packaging. It has a clear opening to see a color swatch of the powder as well as a compartment to store the included makeup puff. I don't really find anything extra special about the packaging of this product, however I do like that you get to see the actual color of the powder rather than just a sticker swatch.
Coverage: This powder has light coverage, I don't think it'd be enough on its own to cover any blemishes. It may be able to diminish the look of very minor problems, but other than that I don't think it'll do much on its own. However, over foundation I noticed that it did provice a little extra coverage. It hasn't become too cakey or too powdery on me and controls shine quite well. I had tried this with my MUFE Mat Velvet sample and didnt notice any difference, however MV usually does that job perfectly alone. Then, I tested this powder with my MUFE HD Foundation, which after a few hours tends to become oily on me. After approximately 10 hours, I didn't have any excess oil or shine, however I did notice that my make up looked a bit as if it was "breaking down". (Something I probably wouldn't even of noticed if not for looking for it.)
Texture: This powder has a velvety feel and is very fine and soft.
Thoughts: This powder didn't and hasn't broken me out and has worked really well for controlling shine. However, despite it being an overall good powder, as I said before, it's nothing that really jumps out at me.
If a setting powder alone was what I'm looking for, I'd be happy to give this powder 4-5 stars. Even though it is a good powder, based on what I wanted from it and what I didn't get is what resulted in the rating I've given it. However, if shine control is what you want, I would highly recommend this powder.
Do I recommend it? If you're looking for coverage, no. If you want shine control, yes.
Would I repurchase? No.
